10.4 Curing Period
In general, curing
period depends upon several important factors, which are type of cement, mix
design, required compressive strength and form of concrete specimen, curing
temperature and humidity. These criterions apparently have formed a significant
factor in determining curing period, which could be either 1 month for dam
concrete or just 3 days for concrete that constituted high volume of cement,
particularly the early strength type of Portland cement.
Nonetheless, almost for
every typical structures, curing period is about 3 days to 2 weeks as
alternatively adjusted according to above mentioned criteria but the period
that most likely used for typical Portland cement is about 1 week.
