Curing at Normal Temperature

10.2 Curing at Normal Temperature

This method can be classified into 2 groups, which are addition of humidity and protection against loss of humidity.

  1. Addition of Humidity: at early stage, direct apply of moisture will be carried out onto concrete’s surface after it is hardened. Apart from being practical, this curing procedure can reduce temperature at concrete’s surface, which indeed it is suitable when placing is subject to high temperature. Eventhough, there are both advantages and disadvantages implementing this method, but this can be performed alternatively as summarized in Table 10.1

2. Protection against Loss of Humidity: this approach is used to protect loss of
humidity to the surrounding by means of using water-proofed paper, plastic
sheet or chemical substances, besides, formwork can also used as a protection
as well as the others. This curing method can be summarized as Table 10.2
